CHOCOLATE GEORGESCU. An early-maturing, high-yielding sweet pepper variety of Romanian origin, notable for its unusual and highly fruit coloration — ranging from rich red to deep chocolate-brown with a subtle salmon undertone. One of the earliest varieties in its group, it begins fruiting very early, ensuring a stable and uniform harvest. The plant is compact, standard-type, up to 45-50 cm tall, strong, well-leafed, and does not require complex shaping. Thanks to its small size, it is ideal for growing in containers, pots, balconies, and greenhouses, and also performs excellently in open ground, especially in regions with short and cool summers.
Fruits are large, uniform, and attractive, with a cuboid-cylindrical shape, up to 25-30 cm long and weighing 150-200 g. The flesh is tender, crisp, with a pleasant sweet taste and light spicy-astringent notes. Walls are thick, fleshy, and juicy. The variety is versatile in use: perfect for fresh consumption, salads, stuffing, baking, and processing. It is characterized by good fruit set even under unfavorable weather conditions, stress resistance, and stable productivity. Fruits retain their marketable appearance for a long time and tolerate transportation well.
