RIBBED EUGANEAN HILLS (COSTOLUTO COLLI EUGANEI). A wonderful variety originating from Italy. Its origin is linked to the Euganean Hills — a national natural park located in the Veneto region. It is here, on rich volcanic soils and in a mild Mediterranean climate, that this outstanding tomato variety was born. It is a mid-season, indeterminate, and highly productive variety. Plants develop strong, vigorous bushes reaching 1.5-1.7 meters in height.
The stems are thick and resistant to lodging, with dense foliage. The leaves are large and potato-leafed — a trait typical of many old, time-tested varieties. The fruits are large, firm, and heavy, with a beautiful pink-raspberry color. Their shape is round and ribbed, sometimes slightly heart-shaped. The weight of each fruit ranges from 250 to 700 grams, though larger specimens are possible with proper care.
TOMATO FEATURES
The fruits have a tough skin, are resistant to cracking, and store and transport well. The flesh is meaty and juicy, with excellent flavor at full ripeness. Occasionally, small internal voids may appear, but they do not affect quality. The taste is rich and well balanced, with a pronounced sweetness and low acidity. This is an ideal tomato for fresh salads, as well as for sauces, pasta, juice, and homemade preserves.
The variety is heat- and disease-resistant, with stable fruit setting even under extreme weather conditions. Perfectly suited for both greenhouses and open ground. Thanks to the excellent quality and outstanding taste of the fruits, this variety is rightfully considered one of the best large-fruited tomatoes of Italian origin.
