ANCIENT HEART OF RAVENNA (CUORE ANTICO DI RAVENNA). A magnificent tomato originating from the Italian city of Ravenna, located in the northern region of Emilia-Romagna. This is an old family heirloom variety, passed down from generation to generation, preserving its uniqueness, beauty, and exceptional flavor. The original seeds were sourced directly from Italy, from a local collector.
The fruits have a pear-shaped form and an attractive chocolate-brown color, sometimes with burgundy or dark green undertones. When fully ripe, they look especially striking and are sure to appeal to collectors and food lovers alike. The plant is indeterminate and reaches about 1.5 meters tall when grown outdoors. It forms strong, well-leafed bushes that require staking and shaping.
VARIETY CHARACTERISTICS
This is a mid-season variety. The fruits are quite large, weighing between 100 and 200 grams, very meaty, with few seeds and excellent resistance to cracking. The flesh is dense, dark-colored, with a rich sweet flavor and a pleasant, mild tang. Thanks to these qualities, the variety is excellent both for fresh consumption and for processing.
Highly valued for its consistently high yields and outstanding suitability for making thick, aromatic dark-colored sauces with a rich, complex taste. This tomato is a true find for those seeking not only great flavor but also a visually stunning variety with deep historical roots.
