MYSTERY DE BERTHIER. Mid-season, tall, high-yielding variety. The plants are tall, strong, with potato-like leaves. The fruits are beautiful, striped red-green, slightly varying in shape (from round to heart-shaped), quite meaty, juicy, sweet, with an amazing taste, with hints of pineapple and tropical fruits. The variety originates from France, from the Surpriz strain, selected by Sébastien Berthier. Good yield in the second half of the season.
The fruit size ranges from 150 to 350 grams, and the shape also varies from round to heart-shaped, even irregular. The coloring is a mix of dark red and dark green, almost black, adorned with lighter stripes. The flesh is meaty, two-toned — green and red in the center. Very good flavor aroma. A robust plant with large growth, slightly serrated leaves, indeterminate growth. The shape of the fruits is flattened, without cracks or under-ripe areas.
VARIETY HISTORY:
This variety is a "sibling" of the Coeur de Surpriz, Surpriz, Mystery, and Johanna varieties. You can read more in the Coeur de Surpriz description. The seeds of this wonderful variety were purchased by us in France. The plant is strong, tall, up to 2 meters, with 3-4 fruits in a cluster weighing 400-500 grams. The yield is much higher than average.
The color is chocolate, with frequent green and red streaks. The flesh impressed with a broad bright-red center and a high level of sweetness. It has an exceptional taste: melting in the mouth, very sweet, spicy, and incredibly delicious! Highly recommended! Top marks for beauty and taste!
SIMILAR VARIET:
Chocolate striped bicolors — this refers to tomatoes with specific characteristics. Let’s break down each part of the description:
- Chocolate: This refers to the color of the fruits. Fruits of this variety of tomatoes may have a dark brown, chocolate-like shade. It does not usually mean that the fruits actually taste or feel like chocolate, but just refers to the skin color.
- Striped: Striping indicates that the fruits have uneven coloring. This may include stripes, spots, or other patterns on the skin of the fruit. In this case, "striped" adds to the interesting visual effect.
- Bicolor: Bicolor tomatoes have a two-tone skin, where two colors combine on the surface of the fruit. In this case, it indicates that the tomatoes will have two colors: chocolate (dark brown) and another color (such as red, yellow, etc.).
TOMATO SEEDS MYSTERY DE BERTHIER:
We recommend it as one of the most interesting tomatoes of the season. Chocolate tomatoes are varieties with dark brown or chocolate-colored skins. They usually have a sweet taste and can be used as decorative accents in dishes or for preparing unusual salads and sauces. These tomatoes can range in size from large to medium, depending on the variety. They are becoming increasingly popular among both professionals and gardening enthusiasts.
