SANTE COLOMBE, SAINTE COLOMBE. A mid-season, tall-growing, extremely productive tomato variety. Its yield is rated at the highest level — 5+ points. Fruits are large, flat-round, of regular shape, with a rich pink-crimson color. The skin is firm but not tough, making the tomatoes both transportable and resistant to cracking. The average fruit weight is 300-800 g, with some specimens reaching 1 kg or more. The flesh is dense, meaty, sugary, with few seeds. The flavor is bright, well-balanced, and rich, combining sweetness with a slight tang, making this variety highly versatile.
Ideal for fresh consumption, as well as for sauces, tomato paste, juice, lecho, and canning. Thanks to its meaty texture, dishes made from these tomatoes turn out thick and flavorful. Plants are vigorous, tall, and leafy. To achieve maximum yields, the variety requires a sunny open area and strong support. It is highly drought- and heat-resistant, as well as disease-resistant. The variety has an interesting origin — it comes from France, from the Sainte-Colombe-sur-l'Hers region, which adds special value to it among collectors’ varieties.
