SYLVAN GAUME. A tall variety (up to 1.8 m in open ground), mid-season, large-fruited, and high-yielding. This is an old family heirloom variety from Canada with an interesting history. It is believed that its origins are connected to Russia, but the original name was lost over time. Later, the variety was renamed in honor of the man who preserved and introduced it to the world. The bushes are powerful, well-leafed, with a strong stem, allowing them to support the load of numerous fruits.
Tomatoes set stably and evenly; each cluster delights with large and uniform fruit sets. The fruits are flat-round in shape, very large, weighing from 250 to 600 g and more. In our conditions, individual specimens reached a maximum size of up to 800 g. The tomatoes are fleshy, dense, yet juicy, with a rich bright red color and attractive appearance. There are few seeds inside, the flesh is tender, sweet, with a classic, harmonious tomato taste.
The variety is distinguished by its outstanding yield: all fruits are large, uniform in size, without small ones, perfectly suited for slicing, fresh consumption, and making salads. Its taste qualities rightfully earn the highest score – 5+. Due to its reliability, large fruit size, and magnificent taste, this variety can confidently be classified among the best collector's tomatoes of the season.
