AUTUMN QUEEN GOLDEN. A compact, determinate bush reaching 60–80 cm. tall (up to 1 m. in a greenhouse). The plant has large, slightly wrinkled potato-type leaves. Despite its modest size, the bush is loaded with fruit, resembling a corn cob. The flattened fruits feature a striking color: red skin adorned with elegant golden-green stripes and patterns.
These are “beefsteak”-type tomatoes — large, meaty, and aromatic. Average fruit weight ranges from 100 to 160 g., with some reaching up to 200 g. The taste is vivid, spicy-sweet, with a harmonious balance of sweetness and mild acidity. The coloring is eye-catching: a rich ochre base with decorative striping. Each cluster contains 5–6 small fruits.
For best results, the bush should be pruned into 2–3 stems. Leaves are large, standard-shaped, and slightly wrinkled. Tomato clusters are compact and neat. The plant bears fruit until the first frost, ensuring a stable and extended harvest. This variety was sourced from France, although its exact origins remain unknown — adding to its mystery and charm.
FEATURES OF DWARF TOMATOES:
Dwarf or determinate tomatoes are a special type with a compact and sturdy growth habit. They have several advantages that make them popular among gardeners, especially for small plots or open-ground cultivation. Key features:
-
Compact growth. Plants reach 50–60 cm, with strong, thick stems that often don’t require staking.
-
Short internodes. Leaves are densely arranged, making the bush appear lush and full. Early and active fruit setting.
-
Early ripening. Most varieties are early or ultra-early, suitable for northern climates.
-
Resilience. Often resistant to disease and weather stress. Perform well even with moderate care.
-
Little or no pruning needed. Thanks to their natural compactness, side shoots rarely need to be removed.
-
Ideal for dense planting. Great for small beds, greenhouses, containers, or balconies. Also perfect for industrial planting and mechanical harvesting.
-
Fruit setting. Fruits often form low on the plant. Yields are uniform and fast, after which growth usually stops.
