FLANDER'S CONTRAST. A recent creation by Tom Wagner, 2007. One of the very first blue pear-shaped tomatoes! An indeterminate, mid-season, high-yielding variety, better suited for open-ground cultivation. Plants reach a height of about 1.5 meters and require staking. Strong growth with good foliage cover. Fruits are pear-shaped with a striking and unusual coloration — yellow-green base with purple-brown shoulders, especially vivid on the sun-exposed side.
The variety is not yet genetically stable — offspring may segregate into different forms when grown from seed. Some fruits may appear yellow-green without the blue tinge or entirely green. However, all variants retain the signature soft, richly sweet flavor. Average fruit weight ranges from 90 to 120 grams. The tomatoes are very juicy, with a rich fruity-berry aroma and pronounced sweetness.
The flesh is tender and pleasant in texture, with virtually no acidity. Excellent for fresh eating, as well as for salads, sauces, and juices. Thanks to its original appearance, it’s also perfect for decorative plating. A tomato of unique beauty and rare on the global market. Seeds originate from the USA.
