GIANT FROM HUTT (GÉANTE DE HUTT). This tomato variety was obtained from France. Although little reliable information is available about its origin, it has already proven to be one of the favorites among large-fruited tomatoes. It is a mid-season, tall-growing plant with vigorous development and dense foliage. In open ground, the plant reaches about 1.5 meters in height.
The stems are thick and strong, easily supporting the weight of the large fruits. The plants form a real wall of leaves and fruit, making them both productive and decorative. The fruits are true giants, weighing between 400 and 800 grams, sometimes up to 1 kilogram. Tomatoes are firm to the touch, with a uniform shape and a rich aroma reminiscent of old heirloom varieties.
FLAVOR AND FLESH
The color of the skin and flesh depends on the degree of ripeness and growing conditions. The flavor is rich, slightly sweet, low in acidity, with a soft and pleasant aftertaste. It develops best under warm and sunny conditions. The flesh is meaty and juicy, with few seeds. Even when overripe, the fruits do not crack — as proven during the extreme weather conditions of the 2022 season.
This variety became one of the season’s top performers, taking leading positions in terms of yield and fruit uniformity among giant tomatoes. Suitable for both fresh consumption and processing, thanks to its dense texture and rich taste. A true gem for those who value stability, beauty, and flavor in a single plant.
