HABANERO RED. One of the most famous and popular super-hot pepper varieties of the species Capsicum chinense. Mid-season, the ripening period is about 120-130 days. The plant is vigorous, with upright stems, 60-90 cm tall, suitable for growing in open ground, greenhouses, and even in containers. It is characterized by high yield. The fruits are small, 4-6 cm long, cube-shaped or slightly flattened, often with a wrinkled and somewhat twisted surface. At technical ripeness, the color is dark green; when fully ripe, it becomes bright red.
The weight of a single fruit is usually 10-15 g. The walls are thin (about 2 mm), the flesh is juicy. The taste may initially seem slightly sweet, but a powerful pungency quickly emerges. The heat level is approximately 100,000-350,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). The pepper has a characteristic fruity-floral aroma with light smoky notes, making it widely used in hot sauces, salsas, seasonings, as well as for drying and preserving. The variety is valued for its bright flavor, aroma, and high heat, remaining one of the most recognizable in the world.
