HOMER'S GERMAN OXHEART. One of the largest-fruited varieties we have ever grown. An impressive, rare Amish heirloom. The original seeds were obtained from a man named Homer from the state of Delaware (USA), who claimed the variety had German origins. First listed in the Seed Saver Yearbook in 2009, confirming its value and rarity. Most of the fruits - not just occasional ones - are true giants, weighing between 500 and 1500 g. Our personal record is 1183 g! The variety is highly productive and reliable, making it not just a showpiece, but a real workhorse for those who want lots of quality tomatoes.
Plants are strong, with potato leaf foliage. Height is about 1.8 m in open ground and over 2 m in GH. The fruits are meaty, heart-shaped, with gentle ribbing and characteristic lumpiness. Small internal cavities may form under the firm skin. Seed chambers contain very little gel and very few seeds — perfect for sauces and salads. The flesh is dense, tender, with low acidity, a well-balanced taste, and a pleasant, rich aroma. Highly recommended for lovers of large, tasty, and rare tomatoes.
