JALAPENO AZABACHE. A reliable jalapeño variety with an unusual dark fruit color. The name "Azabache" translates as "black amber" or "deep dark shine," and it is fully justified — at the stage of full maturity, the fruits acquire a rich chocolate-purple hue that looks very decorative and noble. The plant is powerful, sturdy, with a well-developed bush "skeleton" and strong shoots, thanks to which it practically does not require staking. The variety is distinguished by excellent fruit set even in cool or stressful conditions, making it particularly valuable. Suitable for growing both in open ground and in containers or pots. The fruits are conical in shape, 5-6 cm long, fleshy, with very thick walls.
The flesh is crispy and juicy, with the texture characteristic of jalapeños. During ripening, the peppers change color from green to a deep chocolate-purple, creating a striking contrast on the bush. The heat level is 5000-10000 SHU on the Scoville scale - a confident but comfortable level of pungency, comparable to classic jalapeños. The flavor is rich, peppery, with pleasant juiciness and a pronounced texture due to the dense walls. Jalapeño Azabache is perfect for fresh consumption, stuffing, grilling, and baking. Thanks to its fleshiness and dense structure, it holds its shape well during heat treatment and is ideal for canning. This is a variety that combines resilience, decorative appeal.
