KORROGO DU SÉNÉGAL, KORROGO (KORROGO FROM SENEGAL). An exotic and rare tomato variety originating from hot and sunny Senegal. This is a tall, vigorous plant that can reach up to 1.8 meters in open ground. It boasts exceptional productivity: each cluster forms 3 to 6 fruits, and the total number of fruit sets impresses even seasoned gardeners.
The fruits are medium-sized, weighing between 80 and 170 grams, flattened and heavily ribbed, with a deep depression at the stem attachment. The bright red, glossy skin gives the fruits a festive and decorative appearance. It's one of the most striking varieties in terms of looks. The flesh is juicy and firm, with a pronounced sweet-and-sour flavor. The walls are thin, but the fruits are not prone to cracking.
There are many seeds inside, making this variety an excellent candidate for seed saving and further propagation. Despite the good flavor, it is often grown for ornamental purposes due to its unusual shape. It needs sun and heat to develop its full flavor. In cooler climates, taste may suffer, but in warm conditions it performs remarkably well. A true gem for collectors and lovers of rare tomatoes.
