LEGS DIAMOND. A new tomato variety developed by breeder Tad Smith (USA) through the crossbreeding of two legendary heirlooms — Old German and Brandywine. This tomato combines the best qualities of both parent varieties and is suitable for both open ground and greenhouse cultivation. The variety is highly productive, sets fruit reliably even under less favorable weather conditions, and produces abundantly from mid-season until frost.
The plant is indeterminate, vigorous, and tall, reaching up to 1.8 meters in open ground. It forms a strong, well-foliated bush with dense potato-type leaves. Requires staking and pruning to 1-2 stems for optimal yield. Fruits are large, weighing between 200 and 550 grams, round-flat in shape, and resistant to cracking. The skin is smooth, thin yet durable, deep red with striking orange stripes.
The flesh is of beefsteak type — meaty, juicy, dense, and contains few seeds. The flavor is outstanding: balanced, sweet with a subtle acidity, and a rich, aromatic tomato scent. Ideal for fresh eating, salads, juices, and sauces. This variety inherited Brandywine’s famous aroma and exquisite flavor, along with Old German’s striking appearance and productivity.
