LONG TALL SALLY. An indeterminate, late-season tomato variety with a unique appearance and stable yields. In open ground, the plants can reach a height of up to 1.8 meters. The best results are achieved when the plant is pruned into two stems, which ensures better air circulation and more even fruit ripening. The plants are characterized by very light, almost yellow-green foliage with small leaves. The overall look of the plant is unusual and easily recognizable among other varieties.
The fruits are large, weighing between 200 and 400 grams, and have a heart shape. Their primary color is pink, adorned with striking golden-yellow stripes, which gives them a decorative appearance. The flesh is dense, meaty, with a nice texture and a moderate seed count. The flavor of the pink fruits is considered pleasant and classic, without prominent sweet or fruity notes.
VARIETY FEATURES
An interesting case was observed in the 2022 season: out of two identically grown plants, one produced typical fruit — large pink hearts with golden stripes — while the other showed signs of segregation and yielded red fruit with golden stripes. The taste of the red fruits turned out to be more vivid and intense compared to the pink ones. This may indicate some genetic instability in the variety or the manifestation of hidden traits in its offspring.
The variety is not only decorative but also productive and resistant to adverse weather conditions. Suitable for growing both in open ground and in greenhouses. The fruits are versatile — ideal for fresh eating as well as for making salads, juices, or sauces.
