TALISMAN. An exceptional ultra-early variety! For me, Talisman is the benchmark of earliness; I compare all other early tomatoes to it. It has remained my favorite for eight consecutive years. It is the earliest tomato of the season. The bush is 0.5-0.6 meters tall, compact, with minimal foliage and medium spread due to the number of clusters. The number of semi-complex clusters with 12 fruits weighing 50-60 grams each is truly impressive.
The harvest comes in all at once, with fruits having a perfect appearance: all are firm, uniform in size, do not crack, and fully ripen. The shape is round, the color a rich red. The skin is of medium thickness but is almost unnoticeable when eating. The taste is rich tomato flavor, sweet and slightly tart, and for a first harvest — simply excellent!
When tasting Talisman, you get genuine pleasure. The ripening period is up to 80 days! It ripens at least 2 weeks earlier than all other early varieties I have tried. In my climate, the first fruits of 2023 were harvested as early as July 7-8. I recommend this variety as stable and early. Very suitable for the first consumption.
EARLY VARIETIES
There are many ultra-early tomato varieties bred for quick ripening and harvest. Some of them include "Sangrita", "San Marzano", "Extra Early Girl", and "Sprint". It is important to review variety descriptions and care recommendations to choose the one best suited to your growing conditions. Ultra-early tomato varieties have several key features:
-
Fast ripening: the main feature of early tomatoes is their ability to ripen quickly — from flowering to mature fruit takes less time.
-
Compact size: many early varieties are compact, making them suitable for growing in limited spaces such as balconies or windowsills.
-
Early harvest: thanks to their quick development, ultra-early tomatoes offer harvests much earlier than traditional varieties.
-
Small fruit size: in most cases, early varieties produce smaller fruits, although this may vary.
-
Disease resistance: some early varieties have increased resistance to certain diseases, making them easier to grow.
-
Intensive care: rapid growth requires more frequent watering, fertilizing, and disease control.
