1884 TOMATO, USA. This variety has a history dating back to 1884. It is a tall-growing (bush height 1.6 m), mid-season, high-yielding, large-fruited variety. Beautiful, dark-pink fruits, round-flat with small ribs, weighing 300-500 g, the first fruit weighed 780 g, very delicious with a rating of 5 and pleasantly aromatic. Good balance of sugar and acid. Below is the history of the variety, since our fruit weight has been significantly smaller so far:
Fruits weighing 1 kg, the first ones grow up to 2 kg, with an exquisite taste. The fruits are juicy and aromatic. The significant weight difference is probably due to the fact that we do not pinch our tomatoes, do not regulate yield, and do not water them. If you don't count only the giant fruits individually, this is a wonderful super variety with a high annual yield.
A wonderful old relic of tomatoes, as it is said, was discovered by James Lydon Williamson near Friendly, West Virginia, among the flood debris from the Ohio River in 1884. A personal favorite of Gary Ibsen and a priority in his annual tomato planting.
