ABRAHAM BROWN (USA). This tomato originated as the result of a spontaneous cross between the ‘Black Magic’ variety and an unknown pollinator. The breeder is Millard Murdock, who not only developed but also stabilized this unique variety. The tomato has become a great find for lovers of dark-colored fruit. The plant is tall, indeterminate in growth, and requires staking and pruning.
The variety is mid-season, with the first ripe fruits appearing 110–115 days after germination. The foliage is of the potato-leaf type—broad, velvety, and resistant to most common tomato diseases. The fruits weigh between 250 and 600 grams, and some can exceed 700 grams with proper care. They are flattened in shape, with pronounced ribbing, especially around the stem area.
This feature gives the fruit a particularly attractive appearance. The skin is dense and glossy, of a rich reddish-brown color with distinctive green markings on the shoulders. The flesh is dense, meaty, almost hollow-free, and contains few seeds. The color is a deep, wine-chocolate hue with burgundy tones. The flavor is rich, vivid, and well-balanced, combining sweetness with a touch of acidity.
