AFRICAN VINING — a mid-season, indeterminate, high-yielding tomato variety with a long fruiting period. The bushes are densely growing, with fairly thin foliage and slender stems. The pink, heart-shaped fruits are meaty (solid flesh), tender, juicy, and very tasty, with very few seeds. They can weigh up to 400 grams and have a wonderful, refined sweet taste with a very pleasant aroma.
The fruits are appetizing and beautiful when sliced. Avoid letting them become overripe, as that may affect the flavor. Based on all parameters — taste, yield, fruiting duration, disease resistance, drought resistance, and crack resistance — I give this variety a solid 5 out of 5.
VARIETY ORIGIN
The exact origin of the variety is unknown, but ‘African Vining’ was first introduced by Al Anderson from Troy, Ohio, USA, in the 2007 Seed Savers Yearbook. Al Anderson originally received the seeds from Gary Millwood in Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
This variety is very popular among collectors and is truly worthy — a beautiful raspberry-pink heart-shaped tomato. It is mid-season and stable, with fruit in gentle pink-raspberry tones. The shape may vary slightly in length, but it always retains its distinctive heart appearance.
