ALMATY TRICOLOR, Alifirov, Kazakhstan. This variety is part of the collection of breeder Vitaliy Alifirov from Almaty. It is a mid-season tomato with an attractive deep bronze-chocolate hue, a bright raspberry “cap,” and a matte-glossy skin. The plant is strong, reaching 1.8 meters in height, and fruits well — each cluster contains 3-4 fruits weighing from 350 to 450 g. The fruit shape is round-flattened. The tomatoes have a flat-round shape with slight ribbing and, when fully ripe, are colored greenish-brown with raspberry streaks.
The flesh is meaty, dense, and has an excellent sweet taste. When cut open, it’s easy to see why the variety got its name. The flesh is truly three-colored: a bright red “tie” in the center, surrounded by a bronze middle layer, and green flesh with seed cavities along the outer edge. The taste is very juicy, spicy, sweet, rich, and memorable. This variety deserves the highest rating for flavor and ultra-bright flesh!
