ANNA MARIA'S HEART. A short, early, and productive variety. Resembles the well-known “Batyanya” variety, but the fruits are larger in size and have a well-defined heart shape. The first fruits were harvested 3 weeks earlier than mid-season varieties, and every bush had them. This is a very high-yielding variety. Individual fruits weighed up to 800 g. Very meaty, juicy, and flavorful. Featured in the 2008 Seed Savers Yearbook. Sparse foliage, indeterminate growth.
A rare variety from the Russian Federation, seeds were passed down by the family of Scott Hamilton’s wife, a native of Russia. Named in honor of Scott Hamilton’s wife. Plant height in open ground up to 0.7 meters; also performs well in greenhouses. Large heart-shaped fruits weighing from 250 to 460 grams. Pink-red in color, sometimes with yellowish shoulders when exposed to sunlight. Very meaty flesh with few seeds. Good taste and productivity.
BLUE VARIETIES
Blue tomatoes are typically more purple, bluish, or deep violet in color. This coloring is due to the presence of anthocyanins, which are natural pigments. Some well-known blue-purple tomato varieties:
- Black Beauty: This variety has deep purple fruits with excellent flavor.
- Black Prince: Tomatoes of this variety have a rich dark red color with purple tones.
- Blue Berry: Small fruits with dark blue skin and a sweet taste.
- Blueberry Tomato: Also known for its small blue fruits and sweet flavor.
- Indigo Rose: The fruits begin darkening at the bottom and turn blue-purple towards the top.
