AUNT GINNY'S PURPLE, USA. A rare heirloom variety with German roots, passed down through generations. This tomato is ranked among the top 100 tomatoes according to Carolyn Homm — a recognized expert in the world of tomatoes. Fruits are round-flattened with pronounced ribbing on the top; the largest ones have curved shoulders. A true tomato heirloom from the U.S.
The fruits are impressively large — from 300 to 500 g. and more, beefsteak-type. Bushes grow up to 1.7 m. in open ground, vigorous, with strong growth potential. The skin is pink with distinct green shoulders, giving it a striking decorative look. Clusters consist of 5–6 fruits. The flesh is meaty and dense, with a rich flavor comparable to the best Brandywine types.
Even underripe fruits remain sweet and tender. Leaves are of the potato-leaf type, dense and lush. This is an indeterminate variety that grows vigorously all season. It boasts a consistently high yield with even fruiting from start to finish. The flavor is expressive, with a hint of acidity and a distinctive, recognizable aroma — noticeable even in green fruits.
ANTHOCYANIN TOMATOES
Also known as blue or purple tomatoes, these varieties are famous for their exotic appearance. Their dark purple, nearly black color is due to high levels of anthocyanins — natural flavonoid pigments with strong antioxidant properties. Besides their visual appeal, these tomatoes are valued for their health benefits. Some of the most popular anthocyanin varieties include:
-
Indigo Rose — one of the most famous anthocyanin tomatoes, disease-resistant, with steady yields.
-
Blue Beauty — large fruits that are deep purple on the outside and turn rich red when fully ripe.
-
Blue Berries — small round tomatoes with dark skin and a sweet taste, perfect for salads.
-
Black Beauty — one of the darkest tomatoes in existence, almost black with deep red flesh.
These tomatoes are not only a visual delight in dishes but also retain their vivid color even after cooking. Our collection features a wide range of such tomatoes — from ornamental types to gourmet favorites.
