BALTIC LIGHT. An early-midseason variety from Tatiana Nagle from Latvia, developed from a cross between VT-16 and an unknown variety. The variety is still in the process of stabilization, so segregation may occur in the offspring. However, even now it impresses with the exceptionally beautiful shape of its fruits — perfectly shaped hearts with a long, elongated and slightly twisted pointed tip. In open ground, the plant reaches about 2 m in height and has a slender growth habit with large, drooping leaves. Each cluster produces 3–5 fruits with an average weight of 250–450 g, and the yield is high.
The fruits are almost completely covered with a bright blush, while the inside has very vivid-colored flesh with a minimal number of seeds. The flavor and aroma are especially impressive, combining spicy notes, a rich sweet-and-sour taste and a bright fruity character. Although sweet-and-sour tomatoes are not usually everyone’s favorite, this variety can pleasantly surprise even those who prefer exclusively sweet fruits. Thanks to its spectacular shape, high productivity, fantastic aroma and excellent flavor, BALTIC LIGHT truly deserves further stabilization.
