BARNES MOUNTAIN PINK, USA. An heirloom American variety originating from the mountainous regions of Estill County, Kentucky. First mentioned in the 2009 Seed Savers Yearbook. The fruits are large, pink, weighing from 250 grams to over a kilogram, beefsteak type. Slightly flattened shape with noticeable or moderate shoulder ribbing. Plants are vigorous and highly productive.
The flesh is meaty, richly sweet with a slight tang — the classic flavor of traditional tomatoes. Fruits are smooth, buttery beefsteaks, moderately juicy, with intense flavor and aroma. Average weight ranges from 300 to 400 grams. Plant height can reach up to 2 meters. The main feature is the near absence of internal cavities — almost all dense flesh with minimal seeds.
