BELLA (The Beautiful One). A red striped plum tomato. This is the red version of a recent variety. In its traditional form, the fruits are pink, streaked with yellow stripes and highlights. The fruit shape ranges from heart-shaped to elongated-heart. It is a mid-season, very attractive variety. The base color is red, with golden stripes that begin at the stem and run down the entire fruit. The fruit features a pointed tip. The plant grows up to 1.3 m in open ground, sturdy, with strong but not thick stems. Each cluster holds 4–5 fruits weighing 100–250 g. Inside, the flesh is red and buttery. The taste is excellent-sweet, juicy, and meaty! Some internal hollowness may occur. One of the most beautiful and productive recent introductions.
These fruits caused quite a stir in markets. A top favorite from the 2017 season. The fruits are variegated red on the outside, richly red inside, firm and crack-resistant. Suitable for fresh consumption and all types of processing. The fruits make a thick, bright red, flavorful juice. Fruits are two-chambered, but meaty and moderately juicy, with very few seeds. The flesh is delicious and tender, offering a great taste with a balance of sweetness and acidity. This is a dual-purpose variety—perfect for both fresh eating and canning. It’s worthy of planting every year. Best grown with minimal pruning or in multiple stems, as the plants are heavily loaded with fruit.
