BLACK GIANT. A relatively rare variety from the Baltic countries. Medium-sized, mid-season, productive. The plant is indeterminate, with regular foliage, moderate vigor, and easy to train. It performs particularly well in regions with short or cool summers. The main harvest occurs in the second half of the season. Fruits weigh 200-500 g, are of the beefsteak type, round-flattened, with pronounced ribbing at the top and slightly curved shoulders in large specimens.
The color is dark purple, almost black, with green shoulders. The flesh is dense and at the same time very juicy, with a rich dark red color. The taste is rich, deep, with fruity notes characteristic of the best "black" varieties. At different periods of the growing season, the taste may vary: more restrained in cool weather, sweeter and more expressive in warm weather. The variety is valued for its rich color, aroma, and stable yield.
