BLEVE R-20. Developed at Oregon State University by crossing cultivated varieties with wild tomato species. A mid-season variety with unusual two-tone coloration. Most of the tomato is covered with rich inky-purple anthocyanin, while the lower third gradually transitions into a bright orange shade. The boundary between the colors is smooth, giving each fruit a distinctive and striking appearance. The plant reaches about 1.5 m in height outdoors. The bush sets fruit well, with almost no missed trusses. Each truss produces 5–8 uniform, evenly sized tomatoes weighing around 50 g. The fruits are round and slightly flattened, fairly firm and neat.
The sweet pink flesh and long fruiting period make this variety a distinctive and original addition to a tomato collection. When cut, the flesh is pink, aromatic, and juicy, with a pleasant sweet flavor. The thick walls give the fruits good firmness, while their rich aroma makes them especially suitable for fresh consumption. The variety has a long fruiting period, with the plants capable of producing a harvest almost until the first frosts.
