BLUE FRUIT, Estonia. A mid-season variety with an unusual combination of bluish, purple, and burgundy colors. In open ground, the plant grows to about 1 m (3.3 ft) tall, forming a sturdy, compact bush. Each truss bears 4–5 fruits weighing 150–250 g. The fruits are flattened-round with distinctive emerald-green shoulders, although they are fully ripe inside. The plant has potato leaves and produces dark-colored fruits both outside and inside. It is noted for its high productivity, while the tomatoes are meaty and highly aromatic. During the 2022 season, the flavor was excellent, earning about 4+ points. The fruits are round, purple-gray, with a rich classic tomato flavor, making them ideal for sandwiches, salads.
Online reviews consistently praise this variety for its outstanding taste. Since 2022, our plants have been about 60 cm tall, whereas in 2017 they exceeded 1 m. Western European sources often describe it as a tall-growing variety, similar to what we observed. We do not remove suckers, yet the difference in plant height is noticeable. This tomato has an interesting history: it originated in Estonia, passed through France and the United States, and was later refined in the Netherlands. Our seeds were obtained from Canada. The flesh is dark red, aromatic, with small seed cavities. The skin is firm, while the flesh remains juicy and tender with a pleasantly balanced sweet-and-tart flavor.
