BRANDYWINE TRUE BLACK, USA. Mid-season, tall, productive variety with large potato leaves. An old Pennsylvania (USA) variety known since 1920. Fruits from the first harvest were cracked. Inside they are dark pink, meaty, juicy, with an old-fashioned sweet and rich flavor, growing up to 400 g. Plant height in open ground — 1.5 m.
Originating from the USA and introduced to the public in 2008, this variety sparks debate about its origins! Dark red-purple color with dark green shoulders. Dense flesh, spicy flavor typical of black tomatoes. Vigorous plant with excellent growth, potato foliage, indeterminate growth. Productivity starts mid-season but is better in the second half.
For taste and yield, we gave it 5 stars. Seeds of this variety were purchased in Germany. Regarding this variety, there are two different tomatoes named “Black Brandywine,” but both are modern. Large beefsteak-type fruits, up to 600 grams maximum. Tomatoes are round, flattened, and ribbed, with more or less puffed shoulders depending on size.
