BRANDYWINE YELLOW PLATFOOT. A mid-season, tall, and highly productive tomato variety with potato-type foliage. It is a rare heirloom developed by breeder Jerry Platfut from the state of Ohio (USA) as a unique variation of the well-known Brandywine Yellow variety. The fruits are large, weighing from 300 to 400 grams, round-flat in shape, and of a rich orange-yellow color.
The bush grows up to 1.8-2 meters tall in open ground. The flesh is meaty, juicy, aromatic, with a rich, balanced, sweet, and vibrant flavor, for which the variety has deservedly received top marks — 5 out of 5 for taste and yield. This variety is excellent for fresh consumption, as well as for preparing salads, sauces, or juices.
The fruits show good resistance to cracking, and the plants — stable productivity with proper care. The variety is mentioned in Carolyn Male's authoritative book "100 Heirloom Tomatoes for the American Garden" as one of the outstanding heirlooms worthy of attention by both novice and experienced tomato growers.
