BUTTERFLY RED. A decorative tomato variety for home gardeners with a mid-early ripening period. It is suitable for growing outdoors and under plastic covers. The first ripe fruits appear approximately 75–80 days after transplanting. The plants are vigorous, tall, and indeterminate, so they require staking and proper pruning.
The fruits are small, weighing around 30–40 g, and resemble neat little pears. When ripe, they develop a rich red color and grow in attractive clusters, giving the plants a particularly ornamental appearance. The tomatoes have an excellent flavor and juicy flesh. They are ideal for fresh eating, garnishing dishes, making salads, and preparing various homemade preserves.
This variety is valued for its attractive appearance, excellent taste, and resistance to unfavorable weather conditions. The plants can remain productive even when the weather changes, making them a good choice for home gardens. Under favorable conditions, the yield reaches approximately 6–10 kg per square meter.
Growing from seedlings is recommended. Sow the seeds from early March to mid-April in seed trays, plug trays, or cold frames at a depth of about 1–1.5 cm. After germination and the development of true leaves, prick out the seedlings if necessary, then transplant the stronger plants to their permanent location. The recommended planting distance is 30 × 50 cm.
