CARDINAL ON STRAW. A variety bred by Sofia Saakova, generation F6 (2024). This unique mid-early tomato impresses not only with its productivity but also with its refined appearance — elegant heart-shaped fruits with a graceful pointed tip and truly “otherworldly” flesh. All varieties from this author’s series share a special charm: a distinctive aroma, dense honey-like flesh, and an incredibly rich fruity sweetness.
The plant reaches about 1.4 meters in open ground, of medium vigor, with spreading, slightly drooping leaves. It produces many clusters, each bearing 4-5 beautiful, meaty fruits weighing 250-300 grams. The fruits are firm, brightly colored, with silky skin and tender, juicy, almost seedless flesh. There are very few seeds; the interior is filled with pure, sweet, aromatic “fruit meat.” A slight segregation of traits is possible.
The flesh is dense and does not leak when cut, making the tomatoes excellent for storage and transport. The fruiting period is long — right up to the first frosts. One of the sweetest and most beautiful varieties of the season — a true masterpiece of author’s breeding! A real charmer that wins hearts at first sight.
