CHEROKEE CHOCOLATE, USA. Indeterminate, mid-season, very high-yielding variety. In open ground, it reaches a height of 1.5-1.7 meters; in a greenhouse, it can grow up to 2 meters. The plant is strong, with sturdy stems and large foliage, which provides good air circulation and reduces the risk of fungal diseases. The variety is highly resistant to diseases and stressful weather conditions, and it adapts well to different climate zones.
The fruits are large, meaty, and aromatic. They have a rich brownish-red color with a slight purplish hue, especially pronounced on the sunny side. The flesh is dense, juicy, and sweet, with a pronounced sweet taste and a rich tomato aroma. From its famous ancestor “Cherokee Purple”, this variety has inherited the best qualities: excellent flavor, high yields, and disease resistance.
YIELD OF THE TOMATO
The first fruits develop from double (semi-double) flowers — they can reach a weight of up to 600 g, especially if clusters are pruned. The average fruit weight is 250-400 g. The tomatoes are perfect for fresh salads, sandwiches, sauces, and juices — they contain very little excess liquid and are very meaty and flavorful.
An excellent choice for lovers of old heirloom tomatoes who appreciate not only rich taste and aroma but also stable yields even in unfavorable weather. The variety shows excellent results both in open ground and greenhouses. For warm climates, open ground is especially recommended.
