COSTOLUTO BLUE (RIBBED BLUE), Italy. The exact origin of this variety remains unknown, although it is known for certain that it comes from Italy. We have been growing it for three years in a row, and each time we observe some trait segregation. The variety is unstable, yet it impresses with its characteristics. Plants are tall, vigorous, and very productive. The ripening period is mid-season.
Fruits are bright, with a rich red or reddish-pink color and light anthocyanin smudges — the "blue shoulders" may be clearly visible or almost absent, depending on the specific plant. The fruit shape is round or slightly flattened. The main advantage is the dense, meaty texture, which allows the tomatoes to be perfectly sliced with a knife.
The flesh is very juicy, with a strong sweet flavor and a refreshing tang. This variety will delight both lovers of fresh salads and those looking for the perfect tomato for culinary experiments. Tomatoes are excellent for salads, sandwiches, burgers, and grilling. Despite its instability, we highly recommend this variety for its outstanding flavor.
