DANA'S DUSKY ROSE (DDR). An early, tall, and productive tomato variety bred by renowned breeder Dan Gillmor. Plants reach up to 1.7 meters in height and form strong, well-leafed bushes. The variety is perfectly suited for open-ground cultivation. The fruits are large, weighing between 200 and 300 grams, round or slightly flattened. In the USA, it's known under the abbreviation DDR and is considered one of the best in its class.
The color is rich and dark, with characteristic anthocyanin tones: burgundy-brown with a smoky, almost purplish hue, especially on the shoulders. The hallmark of this variety is its intense aroma and refined, complex flavor — unique for so-called “black” tomatoes. The taste is deep, sweet and spicy, with fruity and wine-like notes that fully develop when the fruit is perfectly ripe.
It is important to harvest the fruits on time — overripe fruits develop thin skins and soft flesh, which negatively affects their keeping quality and transportability. We recommend checking ripeness regularly and avoiding overripe fruits on the plant. This variety is highly praised on international tomato forums. An excellent choice for gourmets and collectors looking for unusual and rich flavors.
