DELICIOUS HUNT STRAIN. A Canadian variety, developed by Tim Hunt. A mid-season, indeterminate, high-yielding super-variety of the large-fruited type. In open ground, plants can reach a height of up to 1.6 meters. The bushes are strong and vigorous, with a well-developed root system and thick stems. During fruiting, the plants are literally covered with large, heavy tomatoes, with an average weight of 400-600 grams, and under optimal care, individual fruits can exceed 700 grams.
This variety is particularly remarkable for its performance during the unfavorable 2022 season for large tomatoes — it delivered outstanding yields, far surpassing other varieties. This makes it an excellent choice for both home gardeners and commercial growers seeking consistent results. The fruits are richly colored, with firm, meaty flesh, high juiciness, and a sweet, aromatic flavor.
The taste is rich and well-balanced, with pronounced sweetness and light fruity notes. Ideal for fresh consumption as well as for processing into juices, sauces, and ketchup. Thanks to their dense structure, the fruits transport well and maintain their marketable appearance for a long time.
VARIETY ORIGIN:
This variety is a large-fruited form of the famous Delicious Red tomato. It was developed by American breeder Curtis Jackson, who over several years selected seeds exclusively from the largest and best-quality Delicious fruits. This careful selection resulted in a stable large-fruited line with excellent flavor.
An interesting trait observed: a slight variation within the variety — one plant produced fruits with red skin and pink flesh, while all other fruits were uniform. This may indicate great potential for further breeding. The seeds of this variety were sourced directly from the USA.
