DWARF ALMANDINE. This variety was introduced in 2020. It was selected from the "Leggy" family and named by Susan Oliverson. The stabilization team included Susan Oliverson, Craig LeHoullier, Bill Minkey, and Dan Follett. It is a mid-season, highly productive variety. Plants reach 50–60 cm in height and have large, wrinkled leaves. The fruits are elongated, plum-shaped with a pointed tip, weighing between 80 and 200 g.
The flavor is well-balanced, sweet with a hint of acidity, with sweetness being dominant. The skin is deep pink, with dark pink to nearly purple shoulders (light-colored skin with dark red flesh inside). The flesh is dense and paste-like, with little gel and few seeds. Flavor is mild and balanced. Plants are compact, tree-like in form, with rugose foliage and indeterminate growth. Yields are good, with maturity in about 95 days.
Plant height is around half a meter. A relatively new variety, developed between 2009 and 2019 as part of the Dwarf Tomato Project. It belongs to a recent line called "Leggy," bred by Sherry Long (Austral Summer 2008/09), and was first released to the public in 2019. The fruits are elongated and plum-like. They are firm and meaty, with a rich purple-pink color and darker shoulders. Highly recommended for planting.
