DWARF ARCTIC ROSE, USA. A dwarf stem-type plant with potato-type leaves. The fruits are meaty and have an excellent flavor. It is the shortest among all dwarf varieties. Developed between 2006 and 2012 by participants of the Dwarf Project. It is one of the hybrids created by crossing the varieties "Budaysky Torp" and "Black from Tula" (Vorchun F1).
The fruits are pink, weighing from 80 to 150 grams, with varied shapes, most often round with smooth shoulders when large. The flesh is juicy, sweet, and well-balanced in flavor. The plant is compact, tree-like, with indeterminate growth. An early and productive variety, ideal for growing in pots. Well adapted to regions with a short growing season.
This variety is included in the "TOP-30" for flavor qualities according to Canadian breeder Jeffrey Casey. It's a pity that in his ranking, the varieties are listed alphabetically rather than by taste value. It would be interesting to know which varieties he considers the tastiest. Recommended for indoor or balcony cultivation.
DWARF TOMATOES
The Dwarf Tomato Project consists of compact, determinate varieties that are ideal for growing in limited spaces — for example, on balconies, in containers, or small gardens. The goal of the project was to create new varieties with rich flavor and a diversity of shapes. Here are a few popular ones:
- Sweet Sue — a yellow-orange tomato with a mild, sweet flavor.
- Emerald Giant — a green tomato with amber hues when ripe, with a very intense flavor.
- Purple Heart — a dark purple heart-shaped tomato, with a good balance of sweetness and acidity.
- Beauty King — a red-yellow bicolor tomato with a fruity, sweet taste.
- Arctic Rose — an early pink variety with a mild flavor and juicy flesh.
