DWARF AWESOME, Australia. Mid-season, determinate, disease-resistant variety. Rugose simple foliage, productivity above average. Fruits are beautiful, bicolor, orange-pink. When cut, they are meaty, multi-chambered, marbled, juicy, with an excellent, slightly tangy, well-balanced flavor. Very fragrant, very fragrant. A very recent variety, bred between 2007 and 2017 as part of the Dwarf Tomato Project. We purchased the seeds of this variety in France.
One of the tomatoes from the “Ivalde” line, created by crossing Vjerino Paradajiz Sjeme with Wherokowhai. Fruits are round, beefsteak-type, flattened, slightly ribbed at the top. Yellow-orange skin with a red-pink blush. Bicolor flesh with an excellent balanced flavor. Compact tree-type plant with regular rugose foliage, indeterminate growth. Very good yield from mid-season until frost. We rated it 5 out of 5 for flavor and 5 out of 5 for yield.
ADVANTAGES OF DWARF TOMATOES
Dwarf tomatoes have several advantages that make them popular among gardeners:
- Compact size: These tomatoes grow on short plants, usually not exceeding 60–90 cm in height. This makes them ideal for small gardens, balconies, or containers.
- Ease of care: Dwarf tomato bushes do not require staking or extensive pruning, making maintenance easier. Their compact form also reduces the risk of branch breakage.
- High yield: Despite the small size of the plants, dwarf tomatoes produce a good harvest. Their fruits vary in size, shape, and color — from small cherries to large beefsteaks.
- Flavor quality: Dwarf tomatoes are known for their excellent taste. Many have a rich, sweet, and aromatic flavor that makes them popular for fresh eating.
