DWARF CAITYDID. A new variety grown in 2017. The parent forms used were "Pesty F1," "New Big Dwarf," and "Mortgage Lifter." A medium-sized, medium-yielding, medium-maturing variety. The fruits are unusually dense for a bicolor, very beautiful, tasty, with a well-balanced flavor and a pleasant aroma. However, the yield for us, unlike the usual varieties, was average. This variety is excellent for container growing.
One of the varieties obtained from the hybridization of "New Big Gnome" with "Mortgage Lifter (Pesta line)." A medium-maturing variety with a rare, bright color combination. The fruit shape ranges from flattened to slightly heart-shaped. The taste is very good, with sweetness and a slight tang, very harmonious. The plant grows to about 1 meter, is problem-free, and does not require attention or pruning. Fruit weight is 150-170 grams.
ABOUT THE GNOM SERIES
Dwarf tomatoes are compact plants that are characterized by small size and dense foliage, making them an excellent choice for growing in limited spaces such as balconies or containers. Key features of dwarf tomatoes:
-
Compact growth: The height of the plants rarely exceeds 90 cm, allowing them to be grown in small gardens, terraces, or even in containers on windowsills.
-
Small but strong root system: These plants have a more developed root system compared to their size, which makes them drought-resistant and more resilient.
-
Excellent yield for their size: Despite their small size, dwarf tomatoes can be highly productive, often yielding large and high-quality fruits.
-
Variety of fruit shapes and colors: Dwarf tomatoes come in various varieties with fruits of different shapes, sizes, and colors, ranging from small to medium fruits, and from red to yellow, pink, and even bicolor.
-
No need for staking: Unlike tall tomato varieties, dwarfs have natural sturdiness and do not need supports or staking.
-
Disease resistance: Many dwarf tomato varieties are highly resistant to common tomato diseases.
-
Later maturation: While there are early-maturing varieties, many dwarfs have a longer fruit ripening period, which should be considered when planning cultivation.
