DWARF COPPERHEAD, USA. Mid-season variety with prolonged fruiting; the plant is completely resistant to lodging. Also appreciated for its compact size and thick central stem. This variety grows well in pots and containers. Fruit weight is 100–200 g, the cluster is simple, bearing 7–8 very juicy and sweet tomatoes. Plant height up to 0.8 meters. The taste is rich and tomatoey, with no acidity and a pleasant spicy note.
This poetic name – Copperhead – was given to this striking cultivar by its creator, Blane Horton from Mississippi. The name refers to the Mexican moccasin pit viper, whose skin has a vivid bronze-red ochre sheen. Dwarf Copperhead was introduced to the market in 2010. It is a descendant of the Rumpelstiltskin line, which also produced such remarkable varieties as Pit Viper and Aftershock.
Fruits are round and ribbed on the upper two-thirds. The skin is copper-red with green shoulders. The flesh is juicy with a red-pink center and green gel. Excellent, rich, and well-balanced flavor. A dwarf plant with regular rugose foliage and indeterminate growth. Good and steady yield. Suitable for growing in large pots.
