DWARF TOMATOES
Dwarf tomatoes are compact plants characterized by small sizes and dense foliage, making them an excellent choice for growing in limited spaces such as balconies or containers. Main features of dwarf tomatoes:
-
Compact growth: The height of the plants rarely exceeds 90 cm, making them ideal for small gardens, terraces, or even containers on windowsills.
-
Small but strong root system: These plants have a more developed root system relative to their size, which makes them more drought-resistant and resilient.
-
Excellent yield for their size: Despite their small size, dwarf tomatoes can be highly productive, often yielding large and high-quality fruits.
-
Variety of fruit shapes and colors: Dwarf tomatoes come in different varieties with fruits of various shapes, sizes, and colors, from small to medium-sized fruits, and from red to yellow, pink, and even bi-colored.
-
No need for staking: Unlike tall tomato varieties, dwarfs have natural sturdiness and do not require supports or staking.
-
Disease resistance: Many dwarf tomato varieties have good resistance to common tomato diseases.
-
Late ripening: While there are early varieties, many dwarfs have a longer fruit ripening period, which should be considered when planning cultivation.
