DWARF GLORIA'S TREAT. Dwarf Gloria's belongs to the "Ivalde" group. This variety originated from a cross made by Soren Linnemann between the indeterminate variety 'Vierno Paradis Seme' and 'Wherokowhai'. Marsha Eisenberg selected and named this dwarf tomato "Dwarf Gloria's Treat" in honor of her mother Gloria.
This dwarf tomato was introduced by the Texas-based Victory Seed Company in early 2022. The fruits are uniquely beautiful! This variety is very rare in our collection. The plant is sturdy and strong, reaching up to 1.4 meters tall in open ground, with broad, dense potato-type leaves. Disease resistant. Very productive.
FRUITS OF THE VARIETY
The fruits are mostly heart-shaped with ridges; some are slightly flattened and almost entirely covered with a bright raspberry blush. They are all firm, without cracks or damage, remain on the plant for a long time, and transport well. The fruits are bicolored: yellow with red veins, weighing 200-350 grams, tasty, sweet, with fruity notes.
This variety is suitable for salads and can also be processed into juice and sauce. The fruits do not store well for long periods, so avoid letting them overripen. The average fruit weight is 250-350 grams. The flesh is wonderful—jelly-like, very tasty, juicy, and very sweet.
SMALL VARIETIES:
"Dwarf tomatoes" are compact varieties characterized by small plants and small fruits. They are perfect for growing in limited spaces such as balcony pots or hanging containers. Here are some key features and tips for growing dwarf tomatoes:
-
Size and fruits: usually plants grow 20-40 cm tall. The fruits are small—2-5 cm in diameter—but very flavorful.
-
Variety selection: many dwarf varieties exist, including "Cherry," "Pomidorchiki," "Tomatiki," and others. Choose based on taste preferences and fruit color.
-
Planting and care: grown like regular tomatoes. They need a well-lit spot with direct sunlight, moderate watering, and support since fruits can be heavy for the branches.
-
Soil and fertilizers: use fertile or special tomato soil. Regularly feed with microelements and minerals.
-
Support: due to the small size of plants and fruits, some dwarf varieties may need support—use small frames or stands.
-
Harvesting: fruits ripen quickly and are ready to pick when they turn bright and detach easily from the stem.
