DWARF GONDWANA THUNDER, Australia. Compact determinate plants with deep green foliage and thickened stems, reaching about 70 cm in height. The fruits are dense, with a thick skin, weighing between 30 and 100 grams. The plant is sturdy, with wrinkled leaves. Mid-season ripening. Remarkably high yield. Bright, rich flavor rated a solid five out of five.
The Gondwana series was developed after Australia ceased international seed exchange. The pollen donor used was the 'Indigo Rose' tomato by Jim Myers. This genetic line gives the fruits a unique color due to anthocyanins that develop under sunlight. Sometimes the only way to tell if the tomatoes are ripe is to check the underside color or gently press the fruit.
