DWARF JEREMY’S STRIPES. A mid-season, compact dwarf variety with unusually colored fruits and a distinctive flavor. The plant has a sturdy, standard growth habit and reaches approximately 80 cm in height when grown outdoors. Its compact size makes it suitable for growing in garden beds and greenhouses. The fruits are round, usually weighing 60–120 g, occasionally reaching 150 g. When ripe, they develop an ochre-mustard color with green and olive stripes. This unusual color combination gives the tomatoes a particularly decorative appearance.
The flavor is sweet, rich, and buttery, with pleasant acidity and pronounced fruity notes. The variety belongs to the Kiwi family, known for its distinctive flavor characteristics. The tomatoes are versatile and excellent for fresh eating, salads, and home preserving. A great choice for gardeners who appreciate compact plants, unusual striped fruits, and a bright, fruity flavor.
VARIETY HISTORY
This tomato was developed as part of the Dwarf Tomato Project and introduced to the public in 2019. It belongs to the Kiwi family. Work on the variety began in 2012, when breeder Sherry Long crossed Dino Eggs with the Lazy F2 line. The latter originated from a cross between Kangaroo Paw Brown F4 and Purple Russian. Robin Bort selected a promising plant and named the variety after her ginger cat, Jeremy.
The variety was subsequently developed and stabilized by a team of Dwarf Tomato Project participants. Bill Minkey carried out the final grow-out and evaluation. The variety has an Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI) pledge, supporting the free use and continued preservation of open-pollinated varieties in breeding work.
