DWARF LUCKY SWIRL, USA. A compact, mid-season variety with impressive productivity. The fruits are dense, aromatic, and exceptionally flavorful. A relatively new cultivar, developed between 2008 and 2015 as part of the Dwarf Tomato Project. The skin is orange-yellow with a vibrant red blush. The flesh is juicy, marbled with streaks of yellow and red. Plants are compact and tree-like, growing up to 0.7 meters tall, with curly foliage.
Remarkably high yield for such small plants — over 6 kg. per plant. Noted for its resilience and consistent productivity. A member of the Jaunty F1 line, developed by Ray South in 2007–08 through a cross between ‘Lucky Cross’ and ‘Dwarf Russian Swirl F3’. The latter originates from the Dopey F1 line — a hybrid of ‘Golden Dwarf Champion’ and ‘Orange Russian 117’. The fruits are flattened with ribbed, rounded shoulders, weighing between 120 and 400 g.
Their bicolor appearance — yellow with red accents — makes them visually striking. In terms of flavor, they rival popular indeterminate varieties tomato like Pineapple and Old German — sweet, rich, and delicious. The plant is vigorous yet compact, with rugged, textured foliage. Produces well in mid-season. Excellent taste. A hardy and reliable variety, and one of the standout discoveries of the 2016 season!
