DWARF MELANIE'S BALLET, USA. Mid-season variety. In our conditions, plants reached 1 meter in height. Although online sources often list a height of 60–70 cm., we likely had more favorable growing conditions. Fruits are bright and abundant, with 12 fruits per lower cluster and 6–7 in upper ones. Shape is plum-like, sometimes egg-shaped with a slight cone, without a tip. Fruit weight — 80–100 g.
This is a new variety developed between 2012 and 2017 as part of the "Dwarf Tomato Project." It belongs to the modern "Leggy" line, created by crossing "Orange Banana" with an F2 selection from the "Lazy" line (Kangaroo Paw Brown F4 x Purple Russian), initiated by Sherry Long in 2012. Later breeding was continued by Susan Oliverson, who also named the variety.
Introduced to the public in 2018. Skin and flesh are rose-raspberry colored. Fruits are meaty, firm, and have good shelf life. The flavor is excellent — a balanced mix of sweetness and acidity. Known for its pink plum or round-shaped fruits. Superb taste quality. The plant is compact, tree-like, with regular leaves and indeterminate growth. High yields begin mid-season.
