DWARF MODERN ROMAN. A mid-season, low-growing tomato variety that reaches a height of up to 1.2 m in open ground. Plants have potato-type leaves, giving them a neat, compact appearance and making them easier to care for. The fruits are conical, slightly elongated, deep red in color, distinguished by a dense, meaty structure and juicy flesh. They have a soft taste with a pleasant sweetish note and weigh from 80 to 110 g, making them convenient for fresh consumption and canning. This tomato will be an excellent choice for gardeners who appreciate compact plants with beautiful and tasty fruits.
The variety 'Dwarf Modern Roman' emerged as part of the 'Worry' project, which originated from a cross made by Craig LeHoullier: the dwarf tomato from the Dwarf Tomato Project series 'Wherokowhai' was crossed with the indeterminate variety 'Skled Roman'. In 2017, Gina McDermott selected the best plants and officially assigned them this name. Well-known breeders also participated in the development of this new variety: Craig LeHoullier, Denise Salmon, Susan Oliverson, Bill Minkey, Mike Dunton, and John Dunton, highlighting the uniqueness and carefully considered breeding work on the plant.
