DWARF OCHRE HEART. An exciting new addition to the world of dwarf tomatoes! This relatively new variety stands out for its combination of high productivity, excellent flavour and beautiful fruits. Early to mid-season, it is well suited to outdoor cultivation. The plants are compact, reaching approximately 70–80 cm in height, and take up little space while rewarding good care with an abundant harvest. The fruits are heart-shaped, beautifully ochre-coloured and usually weigh 150–250 g. The flesh is dense, meaty and buttery, yet juicy and aromatic. The flavour is sweet, balanced by a pleasant tang, with citrus notes lingering in the aftertaste.
This unusual combination of colour and flavour makes the variety particularly appealing to lovers of distinctive tomatoes. Dwarf Ochre Heart is versatile in the kitchen: the fruits are delicious fresh and ideal for salads, slicing and a variety of homemade dishes. For larger tomatoes, the plants can be pruned and trained to 2–3 stems. An excellent choice for anyone looking for a productive dwarf variety with beautiful heart-shaped fruits, unusual ochre colouring and rich flavour.
VARIETY HISTORY
A new breeding selection associated with the popular Dwarf Uluru Ochre variety. The classic Dwarf Uluru Ochre is known for its large, flattened, ribbed fruits with an unusual mustard-golden, ochre hue. Dwarf Ochre Heart stands out primarily for the shape of its fruits: instead of the familiar rounded tomatoes, it produces beautiful heart-shaped fruits while retaining the characteristic ochre colouring and rich flavour.
The new form is believed to have appeared through natural segregation of traits or subsequent breeding work. However, the exact origin of this variety has not yet been confirmed. It is particularly interesting to collectors and dwarf tomato enthusiasts who appreciate unusual shapes, distinctive colours and the combination of a compact plant with good productivity.
