DWARF PURPLE HEARTTHROB, USA. Mid-season variety, plants are strong, determinate, and grow up to 1.00 meter here. Well loaded with fruits, few side shoots, fruits are heart-shaped. They often have noticeable ribbing, burgundy-raspberry in color with metallic stripes over a dark pink background. Fruit weight ranges from 180 to 320 grams. Excellent yields from mid-season until frost.
The flesh is purple, very tasty, sweet, and juicy. The fruits are firm, do not crack due to moisture fluctuations, and have a prolonged fruiting period. A brand new variety developed and released within the Dwarf Tomato Project — the first variety from the “Heart” family. Introduced to the public in 2021. Created by Dwarf Tomato Project leaders Vince Lavallo, Craig LeHoullier, and Bill Yoder.
The variety originated from a seedling from the Heart family. Parent varieties were Berkeley Tie Dye Heart and Dwarf Purple Heart. The purple variegated epidermis has a metallic-green sheen with multicolored blotches. Acquired flesh is meaty and juicy. Excellent rich and well-balanced flavor. A compact tree-type plant with regular rugose foliage and indeterminate growth.
